Personnel: Prof. Jenny Druhan

Overview: RiverLab is a state-of-the-art "lab in the field" that incorporates a pumping and filtration system that pulls water from the local Sangamon river into a facility that measures physical parameters (pH, DO, turbidity, conductivity, temperature) and water chemistry (anions, cations and silicon) in real time. The lab operates around the clock with data relayed back to campus, and serves the ultimate purpose of creating a ‘chemograph’ for the river at the same temporal resolution as hydrograph records.

Instrumentation:

  • 2 ion chromatographs
  • UV-Vis spectrophotometer
  • sensors for measuring pH, DO, turbidity, conductivity, temperature
