PhD graduate student Julia Cisneros has been awarded a Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide (GROW) grant from the Division of Graduate Education at the National Science Foundation. This award will enable Julia to travel to the Netherlands in the summer of 2018 in order to pursue research for her doctoral thesis concerning the morphodynamics of alluvial sand dunes. This GROW award will allow Julia to conduct a period of concentrated research collaborating with Dr Erik Mosselman (TU Delft and Deltares) and Dr Thaiënne van Dijk (Deltares, Utrecht). Her research will utilize a unique dataset from the River Waal, Netherlands, and investigate changing dune dynamics during flood events.
