Professor Trish Gregg was one of eight National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) Faculty Fellowship awardees for 2017-18. Faculty fellows work with NCSA to help solve some of the grand challenges facing society. Each one works closely with experts at NCSA on a project that aligns with NCSA's six thematic research areas and/or major projects (i.e., the Blue Waters project, XSEDE, the Midwest Big Data Hub, Industry program).
Prof. Gregg presented results from her NCSA Faculty Fellowship Project: "A Data Assimilation Framework for Forecasting Volcanic Unrest", Monday April 23rd, 2018. The Fellowship program provided the Gregg Lab with $25,000 in funds to support the development of a High Performance Computing method for combining large volcano monitoring data sets with sophisticated geodynamic models. The Fellowship also supported campus visits from USGS Alaska Volcano Observatory Scientist-in-Charge Dr. Michelle Coombs, USGS Yellowstone Volcano Observatory Scientist-in-Charge Dr. Mike Poland."
