Biography
I'm a sixth year PhD student researching the physical properties of minerals to better understand the very deep earth. In Jay Bass's lab, I use diamond anvil cells along with laser heating to reproduce the high pressures and temperatures of the mantle. By measuring the sound speed of minerals under such conditions and comparing to seismic profiles of the earth, the mineral makeup of the earth can be determined.
